Every piece of gold jewellery sold by Sphinx Gold is hallmarked by a UK Assay Office (unless produced before 1950), guaranteeing the purity of the metal as required by the Hallmarking Act 1973. Hallmarking protects buyers by providing an independent, legally binding confirmation of precious metal content. Antique and vintage pieces made before 1950 are all XRF tested before sale.

All used jewellery is professionally cleaned and polished before sale, so it sparkles.

All new jewellery is subject to VAT at 20%, second hand jewellery is sold under the margin scheme, all VAT where applicable is included in the price shown. Jewellery sold as a personal possession for under £6,000 is exempt from Capital Gains Tax under the chattels exemption.
